On January 15th, Yunshan Cup International Remote Interpreting Contest was held in Guangdong. This contest involved over 13 foreign languages, such as English, French, German, Cambodia, etc. There were 3218 competitors came from different universities and colleges attended this contest. Through the fierce competition, Cao Li, one of the Cambodia major students of GUFL, won the third prize on Chinese-Cambodia consecutive interpretation.

Under the impact of COVID-19, teleconferences and cross-border trade transactions continue to increase, the need of remote interpreting has lately become more and more exigent. This new kinds of interpreting put new requirements to the interpreter. Yunshan Cup was aimed at providing platforms to those who were interested in interpreting, and spurred the further developments of consecutive interpretations.
In her acceptance speech, Cao Li said “From this contest, I tested my interpretive ability, and found out my shortcomings. All these were very helpful for building a clear direction for my future study. And I am so glad to have this opportunity to attain this contest, I have stimulated experience for my future career.”
