In October 16th afternoon, Mr. Michael·A·Glamaim gave a lecture about Analysis and research of Sino-American graduate teaching system in GUFL. Zhang Yunzhi, Deputy Director of International Cooperation & Exchange Office of GUFL hold the lecture. Deputy Director Zhang Yunzhi first asked students about their intention and plan for postgraduate education. Then He introduced the postgraduate education situation of Valparaiso University.
On the lecture, Director Mr. Michael introduced campus, teaching, living, entertainment facilities, scholarship, majors and methods of application for studying abroad of Valparaiso University to students of GUFL. They are two types of graduate education system in America: research and teaching. Public universities are good choose for doing scientific research. But there are less opportunity to contact with doctoral tutors because of its large number of students. On the contrary, private universities are better in getting more opportunity to contact with doctoral tutors. Valparaiso University belongs to the teaching graduate system. It would open a class in China if there are more than 8 students wants to study in Valparaiso University. There would be professors from Valparaiso University to have class in GUFL. After finish 6 credits class in GUFL, students would continue studied abroad in USA.
Mr.Michael said there are already 700 international students in Valparaiso University, including 100 Chinese students. He welcome more Chinese students study in Valparaiso University.
This lecture made students understand the graduate education system of USA better and played a positive guiding role in planing studying abroad to students of GUFL.
