In the morning of January 8th, led by Lv Zhijia, Dean of Literature School and International Education School, Vice President of South-East Asia Cultural and Languages School Dr. Liang Bingmeng and Vice Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office Zhang Yunzhi visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam (USSH). Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Vice President of USSH, Prof. Bang Anh Tuan, Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office and Dr. Ruan Tingfu, Associate Professor and Department Head of Chinese Department of USSH received GUFL delegation. Two parties negotiated on expanding education cooperation and exchange.

USSH is one of Vietnam National Universities. It was founded in 1957. At present, there are two campuses in Ho Chi Minh City Center and Shou De. There are totally 958 teachers in USSH. 99.6% of them with graduate degree. 39.5% of them are professors, vice professors with doctoral degrees. In 2017, USSH was evaluated the university with quality standards of higher education by Vietnam educational and training Ministry. USSH held many international cooperation seminars. Its strengths and characteristics are English, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. There are nearly 800 students studying Chinese. USSH run international cooperation projects such as students exchanging, international seminars with a lot overseas universities. It is quite mature in international education cooperation.
Both Parties Having Meeting
Most of sister universities of GUFL are located in the north of Vietnam, such as Hanoi University, National Chengchi University, Hai Phong University. GUFL hoping to build up relationship with universities which are located in southern Vietnam. USSH is located in southern Vietnam Ho Chi Minh city. Ho Chi Minh city with developed economy, multi-culture and in great demand of multi-languages talents, which is benefit for graduates to obtain employment. There are similarity in majors setting between USSH and GUFL. It is good for both sides cooperation. After in-depth consultations, the two parties reached the following consensus:
1) About Students Exchange Program
The two parties carry out undergraduate 3+1, 2+1 exchange program. Students who majoring Vietnamese in GUFL and students majoring in Chinese of USSH could choose to study abroad for one year when they are junior or senior. They will obtain a diploma after finish the courses. GUFL will award the outstanding students of USSH scholarships.
2) About Students Short-term Study Tours Program
The two parties will sent student study tours to other school for 2-4weeks during winter and summer holidays, which in order to help students understand each other’s country in various aspects. Specific trip schedule made by the receiving school, the teaching language is chosen by sending schools, and Chinese, Vietnamese, English, French can be chosen. All students could obtain the appropriate credits and certificates.
3) About Students Internship Program
Students of both parties could choose to do practice being a teaching assistant for 2-4 months in other school. Both sides issued an internship certificate after finish practice.
4) About Sharing Teachers Program
Associate professors of each school could be a joint teachers for both parties. If necessary, they may teaching in each other’s school.

After meeting, delegation of GUFL visited the campus of USSH in Ho Chi Minh City Center and Shou De. They spoke highly of the completed teaching and living facilities of USSH.

During the visit, the delegation of GUFL communicated with Vietnamese students and Chinese students who studying in USSH. To learn more about the situations of Chinese students in USSH, and introduce GUFL to Vietnamese students. GUFL delegation specifically introduced the basic situations of GUFL, the advantages of studying in the GUFL, the international students’ situations of learning, life, and scholarships. Then they distributed brochures of GUFL to Vietnamese students. Vietnamese students are attracted by the beautiful campus images, they were looking forward to the cooperation between the two universities, looking forward to study in GUFL, to know Guangxi and Chinese culture personally. The delegation of GUFL also said that they expect the arrival of students from USSH.
